Abstrak

ABSTRACT

The development of creativity is always improved so that talent is more honed and gets the highest award. Creativity that can be developed in a product, one of which is making tapestry. Tapestry belongs to the textile group which is manually woven or woven through several steps according to the desired design by applying various tapestry patterns. From this statement, several questions emerged as follows: (1) how to develop creativity in making tapestry techniques?; and (2) what kind of creativity is produced from the tapestry technique in fashion products?. The research objectives: (1) determine the development of creativity in the making of tapestry techniques; and (2) find out what creativity is produced from tapestry techniques in fashion products. Through a study of several literatures, it can be said that: (1) How to develop creativity in making tapestry techniques can be in several ways, including: (a) using various variations of yarn colors; (b) applying floral, fauna, geometry, matrix, and state symbols motif designs as inspiration for making rugs; (c) using the exploratory method to find inspiration, designing by making several rug designs and realizing it from several predetermined designs. (2) The creativity resulting from tapestry techniques in fashion products is very diverse, including: (a) the use of tapestry techniques as decorations in party clothes; (b) can create works of art to use and tools for household skills, for example: bags, shoes, necklaces and others; (c) can be in the form of jackets, vests with complete technical tapestries, clothing with ornate straps; and (d) in the form of installation art or wall decorations displayed in a Field-Space Installation.
